Desktop Software Developer

Role: Develop and maintain desktop software for the Assistive Technology/Disabilities market. Develop Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android versions of Digital Talking Book/accessible e-book players. Create and adapt in-house software products to improve the efficiency of textbook conversion processes, including automatic generation of accessible products from inaccessible sources.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent, as well as:

2+ years’ experience in the following areas:

  • Languages
    • C#
    • C++
    • XML
    • XSLT & Xpath
    • SQL 
  • Frameworks
    • .NET
    • MFC
    • COM 
  • Additional Skills and Knowledge
    • Source code control
    • Bug tracking systems
    • Inno Setup and MSI files
    • Text-to-Speech (TTS)
    • Good communication skills and ability to work independently as well within a team environment.

Web Developer

Role: Develop and maintain web software for the Assistive Technology/Disabilities market. Design and develop JavaScript-based text-to-speech information access solutions and Digital Talking Book/accessible e-book players. Create and adapt in-house software products to improve the efficiency of textbook conversion processes, including automatic generation of accessible products from inaccessible sources. Consult with the DAISY Consortium, W3C, and NIMAS Standards Board in the creation, review, and adoption of accessibility standards.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent, as well as:

2+ years’ experience in the following areas:

  • Code Languages

  • Frameworks
